Word on the street is…

I was a complete beginner to Yoga, and at the time being an out of shape middle aged woman with some physical limitations I really didn’t think that I would be able to do it.  Janelle’s small personalized classes helped me develop my yoga confidence and although her classes are challenging she encourages you to be mindful of your body and I appreciate her gentle adjustments and suggestions with blocks and band in order to be able to stretch yet not strain.  I take her classes once a week and love it! I never dreamed I’d become attracted to yoga but I love the atmosphere at Oblong Studio as it feels very personal and warm.  Also Janelle’s sound bowl meditations are amazing!  She is a very caring and gifted teacher and I look forward to my practice there every week!

From the moment I met AJ, we knew it would be a special kinship, beyond just a teacher-student role. I attended Oblong for the first time on Wednesday for Ganja Yoga hosted by Jia, where I embarked on my yogic journey, and never looked back. Janelle and I immediately vibes, from sharing some good green, to chatting before and after class about our lives, journey’s, and so much more. Whether it was a karmic re-uniting, or destiny, it doesn’t matter, it was magic. Since then, her and I became closer, but what was so truly special is that beyond our connection, she was SO supportive, motivating, challenging, yet in a loving, kind, caring, and not-too-pushy way. I never had truly liked going to the gym or working out, but knew that yoga was what I was missing in my daily life and routine, in order to evolve as a healthy & conscious being. Throughout the last 10 months, I had absolute pleasure of taking yin with her every Monday, as well as the occasional Afro-Flow on Thursday, which is just as amazing. Not to mention, she is truly a musician when it comes to playing those Chrystal bowls, healing and releasing any trauma, knowledge, and stringing the connection to guides and the Divine, through her medicine channeling of beautiful frequency. When she leads you through a flow, her Angelic, soothing, loving voice is not only super relaxing and aligns with the yoga, but she plays the perfect music along with her flows, and it is just SO YUMMY!!! She is not just great at what she does, she is a natural. I have also had the blessed pleasure of having Reiki and massages from this magical woman. Her touch allows any stagnant energy, tension, or traumas to bubble up to the surface, where she either can physically wiggle it out, or beam some light from source through her wondrous hands. I am not kidding — I always look forward to these experiences together. And finally, circling back to our connection, she is such a personable, easy going, down to earth, funny person. Anyone who has the pleasure of being in her presence will know what I mean! She’s a great human and healer, and I don’t know how my journey would be without her! Bless you, I am so grateful we crossed paths, and look forward to seeing you grow, and being a client and friend for life.”

Janelle is such a powerful light. Her energy is very calming & nurturing. She asks all the right questions before the session & makes you feel very safe & comfortable to express your emotions & feelings. During her sound baths I feel very held & warm. She really gives you the space to go deep within yourself & to release. She is excellent at guiding with her words.
